Interns – Deadline May 4th, 2018
Interested students should be in high school or enrolled in a secondary education institution. Pay rate for all positions is $9.69 per hour.
Rehabilitation – Power & Acceleration
The Windom Area Hospital Rehab Department is looking for TWO summer interns to work Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 6:15 AM – 9:30 AM, June 11th through August 10th. Primary responsibilities of the position will be to help coordinate the delivery of the department’s POWER & ACCELERATION Program in Windom, which is a strength, speed and agility camp for local students. An interest in or pursuit towards a rehabilitation or exercise related degree is preferred. Interns must be able to physically demonstrate and participate with the drills.
We are seeking a summer intern to work 20 hours per week through the summer. Primary responsibilities will be executing web/social media marketing strategies, creating content, writing copy, building out our website, helping plan and supporting planning and coordination of hospital events. An interest in or pursuit towards a marketing, communications, PR or business degree is preferred. Experience with WordPress a plus, and demonstrated written and verbal communication skills are required.
The Nutritional Services department has an opening for a summer Intern to work 32 hours per week. Interns would work the majority of the time in the Nutritional Services Dept, doing food prep, cleaning, learning about various therapeutic diets, sanitation and safety procedures, delivering patient trays using exceptional customer service, and shadowing other departments including cardiac rehab, diabetic education and wellness. Candidates should be interested in or pursuing a nutrition or wellness related degree.
Registered Nurse (RN) – Wound & Hyperbaric Healing Center
The Registered Nurse (RN) position is responsible for the coordination of clinical activities of the Wound Care Center. Activities include, but are not limited to, utilization of skills in organization, planning, implementing, evaluating, and providing care as it relates to the specific needs of the patient. Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA)
Windom Area Hospital is seeking a NP/PA in our new Wound Center to provide high quality patient care to our region. Full and part time options available. Under the supervision of a physician, and supported by a clinic team, this provider will evaluate and manage wound care patients, coordinate patient plans of care to ensure healing outcome goals, and coordinate with other hospital departments to ensure seamless coordination of care. Advanced training in wound care is provided upon hire.
As a key member of the care team in the new Wound & Hyperbaric Healing Center, the full-time Unit Secretary performs a wide variety of duties related to insurance authorization and processing, entering charges and other data entry, greeting patients and answering phones, and coordinating patient care with the wound center team and other hospital departments. Candidates must have a high school diploma/equivalent, be highly skilled in verbal/written communication, and have at least 3 months of similar office or healthcare experience. Deadline May 4th, 2018
The Hyperbaric Technologist will administer hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients, under the direction of the center manager in our new Wound & Hyperbaric Healing Center. Preps patients, educates, performs hyperbaric chamber operation, and completes charting. This position is also the primary safety officer for the Center, which includes policy development, accreditation/certification, and providing safety training. This position is full-time and requires a minimum of a LPN, and will become CHT or CHS within 1-year. Deadline May 4th, 2018
Windom Area Hospital seeks a regular part-time Dietary Aide/Cook. Duties include food preparation, cooking, dishwashing and departmental cleaning. Previous experience in food preparation is preferred. Must have a flexible schedule, excellent customer service and teamwork skills, ability to multi-task, be ambitious and self-directed. The position is typically scheduled 28-32 hours per week, on day and evening shifts, and rotating weekends and holidays.
Windom Area Hospital is seeking an RN (.6 – .7 FTE), who will provide patient care to our inpatient, OB, and ER departments. Experience preferred, but will train qualified applicants. Position includes working 12 hr shifts every third weekend and holiday, as well as 8 hr day, evening and night rotating shifts.
RN – PRN
Windom Area Hospital has an immediate opening for a RN to work on a casual basis (PRN), who will provide patient care to our inpatient and ER departments. Includes at least 1-2 shifts per month, which may include working weekend, holiday, day, evening and/or night shifts. Experience necessary.

Paid Time Off (PTO) Time off with pay is accrued for personal (vacation, holiday, illness, or other) needs. PTO accumulates from the date of hire and may be used only after the Orientation period is complete. A limit of 300 hours can be carried at any time. Once an employee reaches that level, they will stop accruing PTO until time is used. For purposes of the table below, one year of service is the equivalent of 2,080 hours paid.

Sick Leave Bank
Accrued bank of hours to be used for illness related to you or an eligible family member, lasting 2 or more days. Sick bank hours accumulate based on hours paid and can be carried over with a maximum accrual of 960 hours. The accrual rate is .0192 per hour paid. Sick Leave Bank hours may not be used until the Orientation period is complete.
Full-time and regular part-time employees are eligible to receive bereavement leave. Days provided differ based on family relationship.
Time and one-half (1 ½) an employee’s regular rate of pay will be paid to any employee working on a designated holiday observance including New Year’s Day (1/1), Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Independence Day (7/4), Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day (12/25).
Health Insurance Windom Area Hospital provides health insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield. Coverage options include single, single + spouse, single + child(ren) and family coverage. WAH pays 75% – 80% of the total premium for full-time employees and regular part-time employees. Full-time employees are eligible for health insurance on the first day of the month following 30 days of employment. Part-time employees are eligible on the first day of the month following 60 days of employment. Open enrollment occurs once each year (normally in November).
Family Medical LeaveRead FMLA Rights (PDF)
Windom Area Hospital provides 100% of the cost of dental insurance for full-time employees. Employees are able to ‘buy up’ for family members or for richer dental plan coverage. FT employees are eligible on the first of the month after 30 days.
Windom Area Hospital provides vision insurance through EyeMed. Coverage options include employee, employee + 1, employee + children and family coverage. Full time employees are eligible for vision insurance on the first day of the month following 30 days of employment. Part time employees are eligible on the first day of the month following 60 days of employment.
Life insurance options are provided through Hartford. Employees have a guaranteed issue of $100,000 and can obtain up to $300,000 of coverage based on medical underwriting. Spouse and dependent coverage is also available. Costs vary depending on age and amount elected.
AFLAC provides a variety of insurance options. AFLAC insurance options include, but are not limited to, short-term disability, cancer protection, accident insurance, life insurance, and dental insurance.
The FSA is a pre-tax savings plan for unreimbursed medical or dependent (child or elderly) care expenses. WAH matches employee contributions into the medical plan up to $10/month for full time and $5/month for regular part-time employees.
A legal assistance and identify theft protection plans are offered (separate or together) at the employee’s cost for part-time and full-time staff.
Public Employee Retirement Association (PERA) is a mandatory retirement savings plan required because of WAH’s municipal status. Both WAH and the employee contribute to this retirement savings plan. As of 1/1/12, employees contribute 6.5% of their gross earnings and WAH contributes 7.5% of the employee’s gross earnings. Retirement benefits are based on years of service and your age at retirement.
MN State Deferred Compensation
Employees may contribute up to 50% of annual taxable income or $18,000 whichever is less. Employees over age 50 can contribute even more. Employees choose investment options, and pre- and after-tax options are available.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
The EAP is a confidential counseling service available to all employees and their family members. EAP services are contracted through VitalWorkLife Solutions. Contact 1-800-383-1908 for up to three (per incident, per family) free and confidential appointments.
Financing Clinic & Hospital Bills
WAH employees may designate funds to pay hospital/clinic bills through after-tax payroll deductions.
Windom Area Health & Fitness
Employees may have their membership paid through payroll deduction. Employee members that use the center 12 times per month will receive reimbursement either through insurance or the fitness center.
Physical Therapy Consultation
WAH employees may seek a complimentary evaluation from the Physical Therapy staff. Subsequent treatments for a medical concern must be ordered by a physician and will be charged as an outpatient procedure.
Windom Area Hospital supports the development of local students interested in, or entering the healthcare industry. When possible, we will provide local students observation and job shadowing experiences upon request.
