Summer Intern – Rehabilitation Department
The Windom Area Hospital Rehab Department is looking for TWO summer clinical interns to work Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 6:15 AM – 10:00 AM, June through the end of July. Primary responsibilities of the position will be to help coordinate the delivery of the department’s POWER Program in Windom. An interest in or pursuit towards a rehabilitation or exercise related degree is preferred. Submit completed application by May 12th, 2017.
Summer Intern – Nutritional Services Department
Windom Area Hospital has an immediate opening for a Summer Intern to work 32 hours per week in the Nutritional Services department. Interns would work the majority of the time in the Nutritional Services Dept, doing food prep, cleaning, learning about various therapeutic diets, sanitation and safety procedures, delivering patient trays using exceptional customer service, and shadowing other departments including cardiac rehab, diabetic education and wellness. Candidates should be interested in or pursuing a nutrition or wellness related degree. Deadline: May 12th, 2017.
OR Circulating RN
Windom Area Hospital is seeking two .9 FTE RNs to work in our growing Surgery Department. Essential duty is OR Circulator with secondary duties of admitting, recovery, discharging patients, providing support in our outreach clinic and conducting post-op follow up calls to all patients. Positions require taking call for after hours, holidays and weekend coverage. Individuals are required to respond within a given time frame. RN required, 2 years’ experience in an OR circulating role (CNOR eligible, orthopedic and scope experience a must), and 2 years’ experience in pre- and post-operative care also required.
Registered Nurse (RN)
Windom Area Hospital has an RN to work approx. 20 hrs per week (.5 FTE), who will provide patient care to our inpatient, OB, and ER departments. Experience preferred, but will train qualified applicants. Position includes working 12 hr shifts every third weekend and holiday, as well as 8 hour rotating day, evening and night shifts.
Outreach Patient Care/Business Office Assistant
The Outreach Patient Care/Business Office Assistant provides support services to Outreach Specialty physicians when they are scheduled for clinics, provides patient assistance by rooming patients and performing data entry, data retrieval and clinical organization. This position will also work in scheduling, and be trained to cover registration and front desk.
Candidates must be a Medical Assistant or a LPN. This position requires a strong commitment to providing outstanding service to internal and external customers, including demonstrating a professional and courteous demeanor in all situations. Strong organization, multi-tasking, verbal and written communication skills, and attention to detail are required. This position will be scheduled two days per week with the ability to pick up additional shifts once cross trained.

Paid Time Off (PTO) Time off with pay is accrued for personal (vacation, holiday, illness, or other) needs. PTO accumulates from the date of hire and may be used only after the Orientation period is complete. A limit of 300 hours can be carried at any time. Once an employee reaches that level, they will stop accruing PTO until time is used. For purposes of the table below, one year of service is the equivalent of 2,080 hours paid.

Sick Leave Bank
Accrued bank of hours to be used for illness related to you or an eligible family member, lasting 2 or more days. Sick bank hours accumulate based on hours paid and can be carried over with a maximum accrual of 960 hours. The accrual rate is .0192 per hour paid. Sick Leave Bank hours may not be used until the Orientation period is complete.
Full-time and regular part-time employees are eligible to receive bereavement leave. Days provided differ based on family relationship.
Time and one-half (1 ½) an employee’s regular rate of pay will be paid to any employee working on a designated holiday observance including New Year’s Day (1/1), Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Independence Day (7/4), Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day (12/25).
Health Insurance Windom Area Hospital provides health insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield. Coverage options include single, single + spouse, single + child(ren) and family coverage. WAH pays 75% – 80% of the total premium for full-time employees and regular part-time employees. Full-time employees are eligible for health insurance on the first day of the month following 30 days of employment. Part-time employees are eligible on the first day of the month following 60 days of employment. Open enrollment occurs once each year (normally in November).
Family Medical LeaveRead FMLA Rights (PDF)
Windom Area Hospital provides 100% of the cost of dental insurance for full-time employees. Employees are able to ‘buy up’ for family members or for richer dental plan coverage. FT employees are eligible on the first of the month after 30 days.
Windom Area Hospital provides vision insurance through EyeMed. Coverage options include employee, employee + 1, employee + children and family coverage. Full time employees are eligible for vision insurance on the first day of the month following 30 days of employment. Part time employees are eligible on the first day of the month following 60 days of employment.
Life insurance options are provided through Hartford. Employees have a guaranteed issue of $100,000 and can obtain up to $300,000 of coverage based on medical underwriting. Spouse and dependent coverage is also available. Costs vary depending on age and amount elected.
AFLAC provides a variety of insurance options. AFLAC insurance options include, but are not limited to, short-term disability, cancer protection, accident insurance, life insurance, and dental insurance.
The FSA is a pre-tax savings plan for unreimbursed medical or dependent (child or elderly) care expenses. WAH matches employee contributions into the medical plan up to $10/month for full time and $5/month for regular part-time employees.
A legal assistance and identify theft protection plans are offered (separate or together) at the employee’s cost for part-time and full-time staff.
Public Employee Retirement Association (PERA) is a mandatory retirement savings plan required because of WAH’s municipal status. Both WAH and the employee contribute to this retirement savings plan. As of 1/1/12, employees contribute 6.5% of their gross earnings and WAH contributes 7.5% of the employee’s gross earnings. Retirement benefits are based on years of service and your age at retirement.
MN State Deferred Compensation
Employees may contribute up to 50% of annual taxable income or $18,000 whichever is less. Employees over age 50 can contribute even more. Employees choose investment options, and pre- and after-tax options are available.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
The EAP is a confidential counseling service available to all employees and their family members. EAP services are contracted through VitalWorkLife Solutions. Contact 1-800-383-1908 for up to three (per incident, per family) free and confidential appointments.
Financing Clinic & Hospital Bills
WAH employees may designate funds to pay hospital/clinic bills through after-tax payroll deductions.
Windom Area Health & Fitness
Employees may have their membership paid through payroll deduction. Employee members that use the center 12 times per month will receive reimbursement either through insurance or the fitness center.
Physical Therapy Consultation
WAH employees may seek a complimentary evaluation from the Physical Therapy staff. Subsequent treatments for a medical concern must be ordered by a physician and will be charged as an outpatient procedure.
Windom Area Hospital supports the development of local students interested in, or entering the healthcare industry. When possible, we will provide local students observation and job shadowing experiences upon request.
